The Stats

Project: Ford’s 50-Year Hip-Hop Anniversary Celebration

Client: UWG with Tibb’s as production company

Budget: $65,000

Timeline: 45 days

Scope: Design, animate, edit, composite, rotoscope, camera track, color & cleanup

The Ask

Ford wanted to celebrate Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary in an authentic way, teaming up with nationally syndicated radio host DJ Envy of ‘The Breakfast Club’ to tell the story of Ford’s journey alongside Hip-Hop culture. Our original task was to create a dynamic 30-second spot that seamlessly blended live footage with animation.

“Dude, I think we need to say something.”
The Challenge

Challenges arose early in the project. We felt that the initial designs provided to us lacked authenticity. This project was too near and dear to us to allow it to fall apart, so we said something. Additionally, the footage provided was not clean—requiring meticulous work to refine the vehicle, the floor, and even DJ Envy’s shoelaces.

The Solution

Our approach involved leveraging technical expertise to clean up all footage for a polished final product. Beyond that, we took ownership of the visual direction, redesigning every aspect from typography and animation to illustrated sequences. By deeply understanding the Hip-Hop culture, we ensured the final look and feel resonated with the audience.
